The ProQual Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Healthcare and Social Care Support Skills is a UK-recognised qualification designed to develop advanced knowledge, professional competence and practical understanding for roles across healthcare and social care settings. It is particularly relevant to assistant practitioners and professionals working in nursing, social care and wider health and care services.
The qualification is awarded by ProQual Awarding Body and regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). Its specification has also been approved by the Curriculum Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) for use by approved centres in Northern Ireland, and the qualification is accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
The qualification provides a flexible framework covering key areas of advanced healthcare and social care practice, including human body systems, communication, health and safety, equality and diversity, person-centred practice, professional development, partnership working and service improvement. Optional units also address specialist areas such as infection prevention and control, safeguarding, dementia care, nutrition, leadership, supervision and health and wellbeing.
This Level 4 qualification supports professional development by strengthening the knowledge, skills and capabilities required to contribute effectively to high-quality, safe, inclusive and person-centred healthcare and social care services.
The ProQual Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Healthcare and Social Care Support Skills is an Ofqual-regulated qualification accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The qualification has a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 200 hours and 170 Guided Learning Hours (GLH).
Assessment is assignment-based only and is conducted on a Pass/Fail basis. Assignments are internally assessed and verified by centre staff, with external quality assurance provided by ProQual Verifiers.
To achieve the qualification, learners must achieve a minimum of 20 credits.

The specification states that a minimum of 20 credits must be achieved, including at least 15 credits from Optional Group A; the remaining credits can come from Group A and/or Group B.
