The ProQual Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) – Concreting is an Ofqual-regulated qualification accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The qualification is awarded by ProQual Awarding Body, with the regulatory body being the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). The qualification specification has also been approved by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) for use by centres in Northern Ireland.
The Concreting pathway has a minimum Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 570 hours and a Guided Learning Hours (GLH) requirement of 282 hours. It is designed to recognise the knowledge, practical skills and occupational competence demonstrated in the workplace. It provides a nationally recognised qualification and a progression route to discipline-related qualifications.
Assessment is evidence-based and assignment-based, requiring the learner to demonstrate competence through appropriate workplace evidence and assessment activities. The qualification is assessed on a Pass/Fail basis, with assessment internally conducted and verified by centre staff and external quality assurance provided by ProQual Verifiers to ensure that assessment and certification requirements are consistently maintained.
To achieve the ProQual Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) – Concreting, the learner must complete all five mandatory units and one optional unit specified for the Concreting pathway. The mandatory requirements cover placing and finishing concrete, work-area protection and safety equipment, proprietary formwork, general health, safety and welfare, and productive working practices.
