The ProQual Level 2 Award in Understanding the Fundamentals of Flow Measurement in Oil & Gas and Associated Industries is an introductory qualification designed to build essential technical knowledge for a learner working in the oil, gas and associated industries. It provides a structured foundation in flow measurement principles, helping the learner understand how fluids behave and how accurate measurement supports safe, efficient and reliable industrial operations.

The qualification covers key areas including fluid properties and fluid flow, flowmeter selection, primary and secondary measuring devices, variable-area instruments, positive-displacement meters and other flowmeter technologies. The learner also develops knowledge of Coriolis, ultrasonic, turbine and magnetic flowmeters, alongside important principles of instrument installation, maintenance, calibration and safety. These areas provide relevant knowledge for modern industrial flow measurement applications.

The Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) is the single framework for regulated qualifications, and the regulatory body for this qualification is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). This qualification is accredited onto the RQF, providing recognised Level 2 learning within the regulated qualifications framework.
