The NOCN Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice is a vocational qualification designed to assess the competence of occupational health and safety practitioners working within an organisational environment. It is particularly relevant to professionals who hold responsibility for developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing health and safety arrangements, policies and procedures in the workplace.
The qualification focuses on the practical application of occupational health and safety knowledge and competence rather than purely theoretical study. It enables the learner to demonstrate the ability to control health and safety risks, develop effective communication systems, maintain organisational competence, establish proactive and reactive monitoring systems, and review health and safety performance. It also addresses the promotion of a positive health and safety culture and the monitoring of behavioural safety within the workplace.
As an NVQ, the qualification provides a work-based route for demonstrating occupational competence through evidence gathered from relevant workplace activities. Assessment is based on a portfolio of evidence, allowing competence to be demonstrated against the requirements of the qualification.
The NOCN Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice is therefore suited to experienced occupational health and safety practitioners seeking formal recognition of their workplace competence and a structured qualification aligned with professional health and safety practice.
