Quick Course Guide
The ProQual Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) – Structural Concreting is a UK-regulated vocational qualification designed to recognise the practical knowledge, skills and occupational competence required for structural concreting work. The qualification is accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual), and awarded by ProQual Awarding Body. It carries the Ofqual qualification number 610/3385/6.
The Structural Concreting pathway is specifically designed for individuals working in construction and civil engineering environments who need to demonstrate competence in practical concrete operations. It covers key occupational activities such as placing and compacting concrete, maintaining work-area protection and safety equipment, operating relevant powered tools and equipment, and maintaining general health, safety, welfare and productive working practices. The pathway also includes an optional unit that allows assessment to reflect relevant workplace activities.
Assessment is evidence-based and workplace-focused, enabling the learner to demonstrate occupational competence through appropriate assessment evidence rather than relying solely on traditional examinations. Assessment is conducted on a Pass/Fail basis, with internal assessment and verification by centre staff and external quality assurance undertaken by ProQual verifiers.
The qualification has a minimum Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 340 hours for the Structural Concreting pathway. There are no formal entry requirements, although centres are expected to undertake an initial assessment of the learner’s existing skills and knowledge to identify development needs and plan assessment appropriately. The qualification provides a progression route towards further discipline-related construction and civil engineering qualifications, making it suitable for both career development and formal recognition of existing workplace competence.
