The ProQual Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management (Construction) – Building and Civil Engineering is a nationally recognised, work-based qualification designed for experienced professionals working in construction site management. It provides an opportunity for learner to demonstrate the occupational competence, practical knowledge and management skills required to oversee building and civil engineering projects effectively.

The qualification focuses on key areas of construction site management, including developing effective working relationships, allocating and monitoring work, managing health, safety, welfare and wellbeing, controlling environmental factors, evaluating work methods and preparing sites for construction projects. Learner also develops competence in monitoring project activities, coordinating resources and materials, maintaining communication systems, controlling quality and programme performance, managing project costs and overseeing temporary works.

Assessment is evidence-based and assignment-based, enabling learner to demonstrate competence through relevant workplace evidence, documentation and assessment activities. The qualification is internally assessed and verified by approved centre staff, with external quality assurance undertaken by ProQual.

The awarding body is ProQual Awarding Body, and the regulatory body is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). The qualification is also endorsed by CITB, accredited onto the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and published on Ofqual’s Register of Qualifications, making it a valuable pathway for professional development and career progression in building, civil engineering and construction site management.

To enrol in the ProQual Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management (Construction) – Building and Civil Engineering, learner should meet the following entry requirements:

  • Minimum Age: Learner should normally be 18 years or above due to the occupational nature and level of the qualification.
  • Educational Background: No specific formal academic qualifications are required by ProQual. A relevant educational or vocational background in construction, building, civil engineering or a related discipline can be beneficial.
  • Work Experience: Learner should be working in a relevant construction site management role with sufficient responsibility to demonstrate occupational competence and provide authentic workplace evidence.
  • Prior Knowledge: Learner should have practical knowledge of building and civil engineering operations, construction site management, health and safety, project planning, resource coordination, quality control and workplace procedures.

ProQual Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management (Construction) – Building and Civil Engineering requires completion of all mandatory units and ONE optional unit. Additional units may be completed but do not count towards achievement of the qualification.

  11. Identifying and maintaining communication systems and organisational procedures in the workplace
  12. Controlling project progress against agreed quality standards in the workplace
  13. Controlling project progress against agreed programmes in the workplace
  14. Managing your personal development in the workplace
  15. Identifying, allocating and planning the deployment and use of plant, equipment or machinery in the workplace
  16. Establishing dimensional control criteria in the workplace
