The Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care is an Ofqual-regulated qualification accredited to the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), designed to develop learners’ academic, professional and analytical understanding of health and social care. It is particularly relevant to learners seeking to strengthen their knowledge of health and social care practice, progress professionally, or prepare for higher-level study. The qualification carries 120 credits and has a Total Qualification Time of 1,200 hours, including 600 Guided Learning Hours.

The programme comprises six mandatory Level 4 units covering Academic Study Skills, Communicating in Health and Social Care, An Introduction to Healthcare Policy, Reflective Practice, Managing People in Health and Social Care, and Sociology: Concepts in Health and Ill Health. Together, these areas develop critical thinking, research, communication, reflective practice, people management and an understanding of social and policy influences on health and care provision.

Assessment is primarily through written assignments. Learners are required to demonstrate the learning outcomes and assessment criteria through academic work, supported where appropriate by workplace information, organisational examples and case studies. Assessments are internally marked by approved centres and subject to external quality assurance by Qualifi.

The qualification supports progression to the Qualifi Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care, relevant employment, and potentially the second year of a related bachelor’s degree, subject to the receiving institution’s requirements.
