The ProQual Level 1 Award in Understanding Carbon Awareness and Energy Management is a UK-regulated entry-level qualification designed to develop essential knowledge of energy use, carbon emissions, energy efficiency and practical approaches to reducing environmental impact. It is an ideal starting point for students and learners seeking to build a recognised foundation in carbon awareness, energy management and sustainability. The qualification aims to improve awareness of energy consumption, encourage responsible behaviour, support energy efficiency and contribute to reducing carbon emissions and associated costs.

The qualification is awarded by ProQual Awarding Body and regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). It is accredited onto the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), while its specification has been approved by the Welsh Government for use by centres in Wales and by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) for centres in Northern Ireland.

With 15 hours of Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 10 Guided Learning Hours (GLH), the qualification covers energy sources, carbon emissions, energy consumption monitoring, equipment use, energy reporting and practical energy-saving measures.
