Learners act as fire engineers, safety officers, or supervisors, making informed decisions to maintain compliance with UK fire safety law, protect occupants, and improve emergency preparedness.

The task ensures learners can:

Scenario 1: Fire Alarm Malfunction in a Multi-Storey Office Building

Background:

You are the appointed fire safety officer for a 10-storey office building. During a routine inspection, you discover that the main fire alarm system is intermittently failing on the 6th and 7th floors. Approximately 500 employees work in the building.

Immediate Issues:

  • Fire alarm on two floors may fail to warn occupants.
  • Emergency evacuation routes are unclear on these floors.
  • Staff have not participated in a fire drill in the last 12 months

Role: Fire Safety Officer
