Quick Course Guide
The OTHM Level 3 Diploma in Adult Health and Social Care is an Ofqual-regulated vocational qualification designed to develop the foundational knowledge, practical skills and professional values needed to support adults across diverse health and social care settings. It provides a structured understanding of professional responsibilities, person-centred care, safeguarding, communication, equality and inclusion, and the legal and ethical principles that influence effective adult care.
The qualification combines three mandatory units with three optional units, enabling learners to build core professional competence while developing knowledge in specialist areas such as health promotion, diabetes, stroke, dementia, mental health, physical disability and information handling. This structure supports a broad understanding of the diverse needs of adults and the importance of dignity, independence and wellbeing in care practice.
Learners also develop an understanding of partnership working, professional relationships, reflective practice, personal development and quality-focused care. These areas are relevant to working collaboratively with individuals, families, colleagues and other professionals within multidisciplinary care environments.
