The ProQual Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management (Construction) – Traditional and Heritage Building is a nationally recognised, competence-based qualification designed for experienced construction professionals responsible for managing projects involving traditional, historic and heritage buildings. It is Pathway 4 of the ProQual Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management (Construction) and has a minimum Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 2,270 hours.

The qualification develops and validates advanced workplace competence in areas such as site planning, resource management, health and safety, environmental sustainability, quality control, project programmes, cost management, team performance and the planning of activities associated with traditional and heritage buildings and structures. It is particularly relevant to professionals managing conservation, restoration, refurbishment and heritage construction projects.

The qualification is awarded by ProQual Awarding Body, regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual), endorsed by CITB, accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and published on Ofqual’s Register of Qualifications.

Assessment is assignment-based and evidence-based, with learner competence demonstrated through a workplace portfolio. Evidence may include assignments, projects, reports, assessor observations, professional discussions, witness testimonies, work products, worksheets and questioning. This practical assessment approach enables the learner to demonstrate knowledge, skills and occupational competence through genuine construction-site activities.

To enrol in the ProQual Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management (Construction) – Traditional and Heritage Building, learner should meet the following entry requirements:

  • Minimum Age: Typically 18 years or above.
  • Educational Background: No specific formal academic qualification required.
  • Work Experience: Relevant construction site management experience, preferably involving traditional or heritage buildings.
  • Prior Knowledge: Understanding of construction management, safety, quality, and heritage building practices.

  12. Controlling project progress against agreed quality standards in the workplace
  13. Controlling project progress against agreed programmes in the workplace
  14. Managing your personal development in the workplace
  15. Planning activities to traditional and heritage buildings and structures in the workplace
  16. Controlling project quantities and costs in the workplace
  17. Planning and scheduling the maintenance activities of property, services or systems in the workplace

  7. Evaluating feedback and making recommendations in the workplace
  8. Managing the project handover in the workplace
  9. Planning the installation of retrofit works in the workplace
  10. Managing installation, commissioning and handover of retrofit works in the workplace
  11. Managing the installation, maintenance, monitoring and removal of temporary works in the workplace

Additional Units – Not Mandatory

  1. Planning highways maintenance and repair activities in the workplace
  2. Supervising tunnelling activities in the workplace
  3. Planning tunnelling activities in the workplace
