The ProQual Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is a recognised vocational qualification designed for professionals responsible for assessing occupational competence, vocational skills, knowledge and understanding. It is suitable for assessment practice across workplace and non-workplace environments, including training centres, classrooms, workshops and occupational settings.
The qualification is awarded by ProQual Awarding Body and regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). It is accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The qualification specification has also been approved by Qualifications Wales for use by centres in Wales and by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) for use by centres in Northern Ireland.
The ProQual Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement develops practical and theoretical competence in assessment. Its mandatory units cover the principles and practices of assessment, assessing occupational competence in the work environment, and assessing vocational skills, knowledge and understanding.
Assessment is evidence-based and supports the development of effective assessment practice, including planning assessments, making assessment decisions, providing feedback, maintaining records and following quality assurance requirements. The qualification can provide a strong professional foundation for individuals seeking to develop a career in vocational assessment, workplace training and education.
The ProQual Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is an Ofqual-regulated qualification accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). It has 150 hours TQT and 84 GLH.
Assessment is assignment-based only and internally assessed by qualified centre staff, with external quality assurance by ProQual Verifiers.
To achieve the qualification, learner must successfully complete all three mandatory units.

Learner may progress to relevant Level 4 assessment and quality assurance qualifications, undertake continuing professional development (CPD), or develop specialist expertise in areas such as internal quality assurance, vocational training and assessment management. The qualification can support progression into roles including Senior Assessor, Lead Assessor, Internal Quality Assurer, Vocational Training Practitioner and Assessment Coordinator across education, training and workplace learning environments.
